Their BAYC game or ape game is called Otherside, and it’s set to take the metaverse concept by storm. They raised $450 million to build the NFT metaverse, bringing Yuga Labs value at $4 billion.
What is Otherside?
Otherside is a metaverse world, a unique ape game concept made by the Yuga Labs company. It features a massive game world where every player can easily own their own part of the world, all thanks to Otherdeed NFTS. The NFT characters from Yuga Labs and other ecosystems fit perfectly into the game.
The Otherside world has 5 different regions, and it features a complex narrative along with distinctive lore. Within Otherside, every player can effortlessly explore, harvest resources, connect with NPCs and complete quests. It has very similar nuances to an MMO; however, what makes it different is the ability to actively buy/sell/share your own part of the world with other players. The fact it can be interoperable with other platforms is exciting since you can easily customize how you play while also getting the opportunity to own a part of the world.

How to play Otherside game?
At this time, the Otherside game is still being worked on. A first trip to the “Otherside” was available in August 2022, and a second trip took place in March 2023. There’s no precise launch date, but the Yuga Labs team states the ape game is set to arrive at some point in 2023.

Understanding the Otherside game economy
Otherside has a very intricate economy, all focusing on Koda and Otherdeeds. These Otherdeeds are NFTs representing a piece of land in the Otherside world. If you have an otherdeed, you gain access to this metaverse.
Kodas are NFT characters, but these are highly limited; only 10000 of them are available. Koda characters have specific traits and attributes. You can use these kodas as an avatar if you want, but they can also be a playable character within Otherside. Also, you can use kodas in other supported metaverses.
Like many other NFT projects, the BAYC game has a simple acquisition system. Either you mint otherdeeds and kodas yourself, or you buy them from a secondary market. Some of them are reserved for special NFT project owners and, of course, the BAYC NFT owners.
