What Is the DeFi Network Radix (XRD)?

Radix is a cutting-edge layer 1 smart contract platform that empowers individuals to build fast, rewards those who contribute to its growth, and seamlessly scales without any friction.

Changing the world of DeFi with its intuitive asset-oriented programming language, and its groundbreaking Radix Engine, the first-ever programmable "DeFi Engine", but also Cerberus, a consensus algorithm that offers atomic composability combined with linear scalability. Read the Radix whitepaper for more details.

What makes Radix (XRD) unique?

An exceptional asset-oriented programming language Scrypto strives to greatly enhance the Web3 and DeFi developer experience by seamlessly integrating assets (tokens) as a native first-class feature of the language.

An unparalleled virtual machine Radix Engine As the world’s first "DeFi Engine," it is poised to revolutionize DeFi, much like game engines transformed game development.

A distinctive consensus algorithm, Cerberus, a one-of-a-kind consensus algorithm that "braids" consensus across an extensive "shardspace." With each transaction being cross-shard and atomic, Cerberus achieves a remarkable blend of atomic composability and linear scalability.

History of RADIX

Radix founder Dan Hughes has extensively tested various consensus architectures, such as Blocktrees, Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs), Channeled Asynchronous State Trees (CAST), Tempo, and Cerberus. In 2017, Piers Ridyard assumed the role of CEO, leading to the project's rebranding as Radix. Subsequently, Radix secured additional funding from Taavet, the co-founder of TransferWise, and LocalGlobe, a prominent European VC. A major breakthrough occurred in 2020 with the introduction of Cerberus, the world's first cross-shard atomically composable consensus protocol, offering limitless linear scalability. Additionally, Radix unveiled Scrypto, its smart contract programming language, in December 2021. Notably, Radix's Olympia mainnet was launched in July 2021, with over $500 million worth of XRD currently staked as of February 2022. In 2020, Radix Tokens (Jersey) Limited, an entity based in Jersey (Channel Islands), was established as the token issuer and holder of Radix Foundation treasury.

What are some of the practical applications of RADIX technology?

Radix offers various industry solutions, such as using its technology to power decentralized finance protocols, secure digital identities, and provide layer-2 scalability.

Additionally, Radix's consensus protocol can be used in a variety of sectors such as IoT, medical, and automotive industries.

Moreover, with the ability to trustlessly verify transactions on the RADIX platform without needing trusted third parties or miners, businesses and organizations can trust the accuracy of their data.

Furthermore, RADIX's public ledger is useful for industry-wide recordkeeping, such as monitoring supply chain logistics and tracing the ownership of digital assets.

Finally, RADIX's technology is enabling more efficient software development processes that are faster to deploy and help increase productivity.
